Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK STARTER RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL

Turn ignition switch ON.

Check voltage between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

IPDM E/R

E46	44	Ground	At engine cranking	0 - 1 V
			Other than engine cranking	Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 4 .

NO

GO TO 2 .

CHECK STARTER RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT

Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect IPDM E/R connector.
Disconnect ECM connector.

Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ECM harness connector.

IPDM E/R		ECM		Continuity
Connector	Terminal	Connector	Terminal	Continuity
E46	44	E16	105	Yes

Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

IPDM E/R		Ground	Continuity
Connector	Terminal
E46	44		No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 3 .

NO

Repair or replace harness.

REPLACE ECM
Replace ECM.

Refer to Removal and Installation .

Inspection End.
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE AGAIN
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Select "Self Diagnostic Result" mode of "IPDM E/R" using CONSULT.
3. Touch "ERASE".
4. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE for DTC B210D. Refer to DTC Logic .
Is DTC detected?

YES

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation .

NO

Inspection End.
