Disassembly and Assembly: Assembly

Install insulator, cap and bolt to gear housing assembly.
Install inner sockets and tighten to specification.
Install the large-diameter side of the boots to the gear housing assembly.

Install the small-diameter side of the boots to the groove of the inner sockets.
Install the boot clamps to the boots, as shown below.

CAUTION: Do not reuse the large boot clamps.

Crimp the large boot clamps, using Tool.

Install the lock nuts and outer sockets to the inner sockets.

Thread the outer sockets onto the inner sockets to the specified length (L) and a minimum thread depth of 18 threads, then tighten the lock nuts to the specified torque. Refer to "Disassembly and Assembly". Reconfirm that the tie-rod length (L) is within specification.

CAUTION:

To prevent damage, hold outer socket across flats using suitable tool while tightening inner socket lock nut.
Adjust toe-in after this procedure. The length achieved after toe-in adjustment is not necessarily the above value.
Inspect to make sure no boot deformation has occurred during toe-in adjustment. Adjust boot as necessary.
