Automatic Temperature Control: Description

ACRS CAUTION - If equipped with Air Cushion Restraint System, do not attempt any adjustment, repair, or removal of any portion of the A/C system which would require removal or disconnection of any components of the ACRS system until ACRS disconnection procedure is completed. This procedure must be followed to prevent accidental deployment of the system which could result in personal injury and/or damage to the system's components  .

ACRS DISCONNECTION PROCEDURE - Turn ignition switch to "LOCK" position. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery and tape end  .

The Oldsmobile Tempmatic automatic air conditioning system is available on Cutlass, 88, 98, and Toronado models. It is designed to regulate temperature of the incoming air and maintain the selected temperature as indicated on the lower lever of the control panel. Blower speed can be varied by using the fan switch. Air outlet selection can be made by using the upper lever. The refrigerant system/electrical system, and airflow patterns are identical between the manual and automatic A/C systems; also, the vacuum systems are nearly identical, except there is an additional vacuum feed to the programmer. On this automatic system, the temperature door is controlled by a vacuum motor in response to the temperature lever position and in-car temperature.
