Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Combination Sensor:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Electrical connector from sensor.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Position harmonic balancer so slot in disc aligns with sensor then remove balancer (where necessary) to gain access to sensor.
5. Sensor assembly.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Sensor assembly.
2. Harmonic balancer (if removed).
3. Adjust sensor assembly for equal distance on each side of disc which should be approximately 0.76mm (0.030 inch) clearance between the disc and sensor. This clearance should be checked at three locations approximately 120° apart. Torque sensor pinch bolt to 3.4 Nm (30 lb in).
4. Electrical connector to the sensor.
5. Lower vehicle and connect negative battery cable.
