Code 62, High Engine Oil Temperature: Notes

The engine oil temperature sensor is a thermistor, similar to a coolant or air temperature sensor. When engine oil temperature is cold, sensor resistance is high and the ECM will see a high monitored voltage signal on engine oil temperature sensor circuit. As temperature increases, resistance decreases and the ECM sees a lower monitored voltage engine oil temperature sensor circuit.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.

Test Number 1)  Code 62 will set if engine oil temperature sensor indicates a temperature greater than 291°F (144°C) and engine has been running for more than 30 minutes.
