SERVICE INFORMATION
All 1990-92 Toronado, 1991-92 Custom Cruiser and Ninety Eight and 1992 Eighty Eight models use the GM Generation I Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Until recently, it was a requirement to replace all SIR sensors after a module deployment on vehicles equipped with this SIR system. As outlined in Management Bulletin 92-1-15, it is no longer necessary to replace these sensors unless the sensor is located in the area of vehicle collision damage.
This is a significant change in service procedures from what technicians may have been taught during training on this system. Review Management Bulletin 92-1-15 for the details about these changes prior to servicing a vehicle following a module deployment.
