System Check
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. Use only 10-megohm (minimum) DVOM for all voltage and resistance tests.
- Indicates if EBCM is transmitting data.
- Checks for serial data line malfunction.
- Checks for proper connection of Tech 1 scan tester to DLC.
- Checks multifunction alarm module fuse for open.
- Checks fuse No. 4 for open.
- Checks for high resistance in EBCM ground circuit.
- Checks for current codes.
- Checks for proper ABS warning light operation.
- Checks for history codes.
- Checks for possible short to ground in battery voltage feed circuit.
- Checks for possible short to ground in EBCM.
- Checks for short to ground in battery voltage circuit between multifunction alarm module and EBCM.
- Ensures short to ground is not due to physical damage of circuit.
- Checks for possible short to ground in switched ignition circuit.
- Isolates short to ground to either circuitry or EBCM.
- Checks for proper battery voltage at EBCM.
- Checks for high resistance in battery voltage feed circuit.
- Checks for high resistance in switched ignition circuit.
- Ensures malfunction is not due to poor terminal contact.
- Checks for high resistance in switched ignition circuit between fuse block and EBCM.
