Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass, 1998 Chevrolet Malibu, 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass, and 1997 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Cruise control module assembly is located on right front inner fender panel, in engine compartment. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect cruise control cable from module assembly and throttle body. See CRUISE CONTROL CABLE  . Disconnect cruise control module assembly electrical connector.
  2. Unclip top of module hinged retaining strap from bracket. Remove cruise control module assembly from mounting bracket. Remove 2 mounting bracket bolts and remove bracket from inner fender panel.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten cruise control module assembly mounting bracket bolts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m). Adjust cruise control cable. See CRUISE CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT  .
