Removal Procedure
Important:
- The door locks use the fork bolt lock design which includes a safety interlock feature. The door is secured in a closed position when the door lock fork bolt engages the striker. Rotate the lock knob rearward in order to unlock the door from the inside.
- Replace the door lock if it is faulty. Do not attempt to repair.
- Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door
- Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door .
- Remove the rods from the front door inside handle.
- Use side cutters in order to remove the lock-to-rod clip which secures the front door outside handle rod to the front door lock.
- Discard the lock-to-rod clip.
- Disconnect the front outside door lock cylinder rod.
- Remove the rods from the plastic door clip.
- Remove the screws (1, 2, 3) which secure the front door lock to the front door.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the front door lock.
- Remove the front door lock with the inside handle rods attached, from the front door.
- Remove the front door handle rods from the front door lock.
