To identify any engine by the manufacturer's code, follow the four steps designated by the numbered blocks.

VIN PLATE LOCATION: Left side of instrument panel visible through windshield.

ENGINE IDENTIFICATION 1983:

1. MODEL YEAR IDENTIFICATION: 10th character of VIN (1983 - D)
2. ENGINE CODE LOCATION: 8th character of VIN
