Test 8A - Short To Battery On Bus
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position before disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using DRB-II, indicate whether a module is present or not. Disconnect Electronic Automatic Transaxle (EATX) controller connector. Connector is located on firewall on right side of engine compartment. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO BATTERY, replace EATX controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If DRB-II displays SHORT TO BATTERY, disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) connector. Connector is located in engine compartment. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO BATTERY, replace SBEC. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If DRB-II displays SHORT TO BATTERY, connect a jumper wire between body controller case and ground. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO BATTERY, repair open Black/Light Green wire between terminal No. 19 of body controller Blue connector and ground.
- If DRB-II displays SHORT TO BATTERY, disconnect body controller Blue connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. DRB-II. If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO BATTERY, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If DRB-II displays SHORT TO BATTERY, disconnect instrument cluster 14-pin connector.
- If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO BATTERY, perform TEST 8B . If DRB-II displays SHORT TO BATTERY, disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector. Connector is located in overhead console. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If DRB-II does not display SHORT TO BATTERY, perform TEST 8C .
- If DRB-II displays SHORT TO BATTERY, disconnect DRB-II. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between terminal No. 1 (Violet/Brown wire) of CCD bus connector and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST . If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST .
