Differential Assembly Selective Shim Preload Procedure

This procedure must be performed when either the transaxle case, clutch/differential case, differential carrier or the differential bearing assemblies are replaced.

Tools J-8092, J-26935 and J-26938 are required to conduct the following procedure. Refer to accompanying image for differential assembly selective shim preload procedure and note the following:

1. Install tool J-26935 onto clutch housing (20) and transaxle housing (85).

2. Measure the largest shim (73) possible in area "U", as shown in accompanying image. Use shim two sizes larger.

3. Install selected shim (73).

4. Using tools J-26938 and J-8092, install bearing race (76).

5. Using tools J-26938 and J-809Z install axle seal (23).
