Campaign - Difficult or No-start Condition: Overview

Number 86-C-04 Date 08/86
Subject: PRODUCT EMISSION CAMPAIGN 86-C-04 INCORRECT DISTRIBUTOR MODULE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986 PONTIAC 1000 MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 1.6L L4 ENGINE (RPO L17)

TO: ALL PONTIAC DEALERS

General Motors has determined some 1986 Pontiac 1000 models equipped with 1.6L L4 Engine (RPO L17) may have been built with an incorrect distributor module.. This could result in a difficult or no-start condition and improperly set engine timing. If not corrected, this condition can also affect proper operation of the emission control system.

To correct vehicles with the wrong distributor module a new module will be installed and the engine timing checked and, if required, reset.
