Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect solenoid wires from starter motor.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove heat shield, if equipped.
5. On models with 4---151 engine, remove rear starter bracket attaching bolts.
6. On all models ,remove the 2 starter motor motor-to engine bolts.
7. Remove starter motor through front of converter toward front of engine.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
