WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE: Body Control Module (BCM) may also be referred to as Multifunction Alarm, Lock & Lighting (MALL) module.

The Body Control Module (BCM) controls different body systems by obtaining information from various sensors and switches, then uses this information to command the output to each body system. Three different types of BCMs are available. BCM Type-2 performs the following functions:

BCM Type-3 provides the same features as BCM Type-2, and includes functions that allow BCM features to work with keyless entry system. BCM Type-4 provides the same features as BCM Type-2 and BCM Type-3, and includes remote activation verification, remote alarm, and content theft deterrent system functions.

When BCM activates the feature customization mode, the following functions can be customized:
