Cruise Control Diagnostic System Check

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on lower left side of instrument panel, near steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform appropriate test procedure. See BODY CONTROL MODULES article. For 2002, see BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to establish communication with Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If scan tool communicates with PCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with PCM, perform appropriate test procedure. See BODY CONTROL MODULES article. For 2002, see BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  3. Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for PCM. If any DTCs beginning with "P" are retrieved, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If no DTCs beginning with "P" are retrieved, diagnose and repair concern by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  under SYSTEM TESTS.
