Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Access the crankshaft position sensor.
    • For front-wheel drive vehicles, remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tire and Wheel.
    • For all-wheel-drive vehicles, disconnect the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold and reposition.
  4. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the attaching bolt and/or screw.
  6. Remove the sensor from the engine.
  7. Inspect for wear, cracks, or leakage if the sensor is not being replaced.
