Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the midgate inner panel to the vehicle.
  2. Install the midgate latch release switch to the midgate inner panel. Refer to Switch Replacement - Midgate Latch .
  3. Install the midgate harness grommet (2) to the midgate inner panel.
  4. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the midgate latch release switch.
  5. Align the midgate inner panel to the midgate structure.
  6. Install the midgate inner panel to the midgate structure by pressing on the inner panel until the retaining clips are fully seated in the midgate structure.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  8. Install the screw retaining the midgate inner panel to the midgate.

    Tighten:  Tighten the inner panel screw to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

  9. Install the midgate handle. Refer to Handle Replacement - Midgate .
  10. Connect the midgate electrical connector.
  11. Install the rear floor trim panel. Refer to Trim Cover Replacement - Rear Floor Trim Panel in Interior Trim.
