Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. If the brake caliper guide pin is to be reused, clean the brake caliper guide pin using denatured alcohol, or equivalent.
  2. Dry the brake caliper guide pin using non-lubricated, filtered air.
  3. Apply high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pin. DO NOT apply lubricant to the brake pad hardware.

  5. Install the rear brake caliper assembly to the mounting bracket.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  7. Install the rear brake caliper on the mounting bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake caliper guide pins to 31 N.m (23 lb ft).

  9. Install the NEW copper gaskets on the brake hose bolt.
  10. Remove the plug from the brake hose end.
  11. Install the brake hose bolt on the rear brake caliper.

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake hose bolt to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  12. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer toHydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) in Hydraulic Brakes.
  13. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer toTire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Suspension.
  14. Lower the vehicle. Refer toLifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information
