Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the park brake cable from the rear brake caliper. Refer to Park Brake Cable Replacement in Park Brake.

  5. Remove the brake caliper and bracket assembly. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear .

  7. Remove the rear brake rotor.

  9. Remove the park brake shoe.

  11. Remove the rear drive axle. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement in Rear Drive Axle.

  13. Remove the retaining nuts from the backing plate.
  14. Remove the backing plate from the rear axle housing.
