Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the upper control arm.

  3. Gently pry out on inner fender to access forward facing bolt.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the upper control arm mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the upper control arm mounting bolts to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).

  6. Install the battery tray, if removed. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  8. Connect the ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness to the upper control arm.

  10. Connect the upper control arm to the steering knuckle.
  11. Install the upper ball joint to upper control arm pinch bolt and nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the upper ball joint to upper control arm pinch bolt to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  12. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Check the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications in Wheel Alignment.
