Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the new muffler to the tail pipe.

  3. Attach the muffler and tail pipe to the hanger insulators.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the muffler to the catalytic converter and secure with the nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  6. Loosely install the clamp to secure the muffler to the tail pipe.
  7. Align the tail pipe in the proper position.

    Tighten:  Tighten the clamp nuts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  8. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
  9. Install the frame brace. Refer to Frame Brace Replacement (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada) or Frame Brace Replacement (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) in Frame and Underbody.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
