Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Position the accelerator pedal on the mounting studs.
- Install the mounting nuts.
Tighten: Tighten the mounting nuts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
- Install the mounting bolt behind the accelerator pedal.
Tighten: Tighten the mounting nuts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
- Adjust the accelerator pedal in the following sequence:
- Turning the motor transmission clockwise reduces the gap, and counterclockwise increases the gap.
- Position the drill bit 4.5 N.m (0.187 in-3/16 or the equivalent in number and or letter drill bits) a 1/4 of an inch from the bottom of the metal accelerator pivot arm.
- Rotating the drive cable by hand, adjust the accelerator motor transmission until the drill 4.5 N.m (0.187 in-3/16 or the equivalent in number and or letter drill) bit fits snugly between the plastic accelerator arm and the metal pivot arm.
- Install the drive cable.
- Install the drive cable lock collar.
- Rotate the drive cable lock collar to the lock position.
- Install the electrical connection for the accelerator.
- Install the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Verify the operation of the adjustable pedals.
NOTE:

IMPORTANT:
The following procedure must be performed before if the accelerator pedal or brake pedal drive motor and cable assembly are being replaced. Failure to do so could cause an IMPROPER STEP OVER HEIGHT.
IMPORTANT:
Ensure that the locking tabs are fully seated before installing the lock for the drive cable.
