Ignition Lock Cylinder Operation

The ignition lock cylinder has 10 tumblers corresponding to the 10 cut positions on the metal key component of the key and transmitter assembly. The barrel component of the ignition lock cylinder has 5 tumblers on each side. The orientation of the tumblers alternate in adjacent locations. Tumbler positions 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 are on 1 side of the barrel. Tumbler positions 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are on the opposite side of the barrel. Tumbler position 1 is closest to the key insertion end of the barrel. Each tumbler fits into a slot in the barrel. Each slot is rectangular with a round recess at 1 end. The tumbler spring fits in the round recess. Each tumbler is has a number on the side. The number corresponds with the depth of the cut on the metal key.
