CAUTION: Remove all the air from the hydraulic brake system anytime the hydraulic brake system is opened for repair. The entire bleeding procedure must be followed. Failure to remove all the air in the hydraulic brake system will result in reduced braking performance and possible personal injury. CAUTION: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution . NOTE: Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM. NOTE: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice . NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice . Fastener Tightening Specifications: Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications . Preliminary Procedure Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. If equipped with RPO LSJ, remove the throttle body air snorkel. Clean the area of the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) around the pipe ports. Clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to BPMV area of any accumulated dirt and foreign material.
1	Fittings, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (Qty: 4) Tip: Before disconnecting the brake pipes from the BPMV, note the locations of each pipe as an aid for assembly. Cap or plug the brake pipes and pipe ports to prevent fluid loss and contamination. Bleed the brake system anytime the system is opened for repairs. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) . Tighten: 19 N.m (14 lb ft)
2	Fittings, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (Qty: 2) Tip: Before disconnecting the brake pipes from the BPMV, note the locations of each pipe as an aid for assembly. Cap or plug the brake pipes and pipe ports to prevent fluid loss and contamination. Tighten: 19 N.m (14 lb ft)
3	Connector, BPMV Electrical
4	Bolt, BPMV to Mounting Bracket Tighten: 5.6 N.m (50 lb in)
5	Insulator, BPMV Mounting Bracket Tip: Inspect both upper and lower insulators for excessive wear and/or damage. Replace the insulators if necessary.
6	Bolt, BPVM Mounting (Qty: 4) Tip: Tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern. Tighten: 4.5 N.m (40 lb in)
7	Bolt, Brake Pressure Modulator Valve-to-Bracket Tighten: 5.6 N.m (50 lb in)
8	Module, Electronic Brake Control Module Tip: If reusing the EBCM, clean the EBCM-to-BPMV mating surface with denatured alcohol or equivalent. Ensure that the EBCM-to-BPMV seal is fully seated in the groove on the EBCM. If a new EBCM is being installed, program the EBCM. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - VEHICLE .
