Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the information center telltale assembly.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the appropriate voltage control circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- Front - terminal 4
- Rear - terminal A
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
- Connect a test lamp between the voltage control circuit terminal 4 (front) or A (rear) and the appropriate LED control circuit:
Front
- Left amber LED - terminal 3
- Center amber LED - terminal 2
- Red LED - terminal 1
Rear
- Left amber LED - terminal B
- Center amber LED - terminal C
- Red LED - terminal D
- Command the appropriate LED ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the object alarm module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate information center telltale assembly.
