Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
3. Remove the air cleaner case.




4. Disconnect the speed sensor connector (2).
5. Remove the bolt and speed sensor (1).




6. Remove the O-ring from the speed sensor.

Inspection Procedure




1. Inspect the speed sensor.
2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s).

Standard Resistance
* Tester Connection: 1-2
* Condition: 20°C (68°F)
* Specified Condition: 560 to 680 ohm

3. If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the speed sensor.

Installation Procedure




1. Coat a new O-ring with ATF WS and install it to the speed sensor.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the speed sensor with the bolt and tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
3. Install the air cleaner case.
4. Install the air cleaner cover.
5. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
