Battery Replacement

Removal Procedure




Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable (3) from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the positive (+) battery cable (1) from the positive (+) battery terminal.
3. Remove the bolt (4) and the battery hold down bracket (2).
4. Remove the battery (5) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the battery (5) into the vehicle. Position the battery into the carrier.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the battery hold down bracket (2). Secure with the bolt (4).

Tighten the battery hold down bracket bolt to 8 Nm (71 lb in).

3. Connect the positive (+) battery cable (1) to the positive (+) battery terminal.

Tighten the positive battery cable-to-battery terminal to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

4. Install the negative (-) battery cable (3) to the negative (-) battery terminal.

Tighten the negative battery cable-to-battery terminal to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
