Malfunction Indicator Light (Mil)
MIL (or CHECK ENGINE light) comes on if most DTCs are set. See DTC DEFINITION . MIL comes on as a self-test when ignition switch is in ON position. After engine starts, MIL goes out to indicate no DTCs are present. If MIL remains on, a fault is present.
