Replacing Control Unit For Rear Lid

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
→ Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least > Current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3  .

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the Tailgate  control unit in the overview  . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  4. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  5. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  6. The Tester displays the message: Coding was completed successfully.
  7. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  8. Calibration  must be selected. Press F12 to continue
    CAUTION: When you start the calibration/teaching process, ' he ailgate moves to its limit stops. Mechanical force limitation is not guaranteed during this process.
    • Danger of pinching and squashing body parts.
    • Incorrect values for the control unit, resulting in malfunctions.

    → Take precautions to ensure that no body parts and objects can get caught in the tailgate.
  9. Read the warnings, press F12 to continue and then press F8 to start the calibration process.
  10. Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester. Perform calibration according to menu guidance.
  11. Once the teaching process has been completed successfully, an acoustic signal will be issued.
  12. Read out the fault memory, correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  13. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
