Description & Operation

Saab Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is divided into 2 circuits. One circuit comprises the front right wheel and rear left wheel, and other circuit comprises the front left wheel and rear right wheel.

Four wheel sensors, one at each of the wheels send signals to an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which continuously calculates on the basis of the signals the wheel acceleration, wheel deceleration, speed of vehicle and wheel slip. If any wheel approaches lock-up, control unit sends signals to solenoid valves in valve block for respective wheel. ECU provides self-diagnostic capability. See Figure .
