Abs, TCS & Esp (Anti-Lock Brake, Traction Control Systems & Electronic Stabilizer Program) Unit With Control Module: Removal

  1. Place a cover over the splash guard to protect it from any brake-fluid spillage.
  2. Remove the battery cover and the battery. See Fig 1. Detach the electrical distribution unit and place to one side.
  3. Unplug the connector and place to one side.
  4. Unplug the ESP unit connector from the pressure sensor. See Fig 2.
  5. Use compressed air to clean the surfaces around the brake-pipe couplings.
  6. Dismantle the brake pipe couplings.
  7. On manual transmission equipped models, detach the clutch fluid hose from the brake fluid reservoir and collect the brake fluid.
  8. Remove the ABS unit. It may be necessary to insert a screwdriver between the bracket and the wheel housing and pry carefully in order to reach the outer nut. See Fig 3.
