Removal Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Heated Oxygen and Oxygen Sensor Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    NOTE: Refer to Excessive Force and Oxygen Sensor Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Unscrew the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) sensor from the catalytic converter.
  2. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.2L Engine) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (5.3L Engine) in Engine Exhaust.
  3. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.

  5. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector (3).
