Removal Procedure

Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT (LAU/A28NER) .
Remove the right camshaft cover. Refer to CAMSHAFT COVER REPLACEMENT - RIGHT SIDE .
Remove the right front wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Remove the water pump. Refer to WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT (LAU/A28NER) .
Drain the engine oil. Refer to ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT .
Remove the right front wheelhouse front liner. Refer to FRONT WHEELHOUSE FRONT LINER REPLACEMENT .
Remove the power brake booster pump. Refer to POWER BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP REPLACEMENT (LAU/A28NER) .
Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to CRANKSHAFT BALANCER REPLACEMENT .
Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to BELT IDLER PULLEY replacement.
Remove the secondary air injection pipe. Refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PIPE REPLACEMENT .
Remove the heater inlet pipe fastener.
Remove the heater inlet pipe from the water outlet.
Remove the upper engine wiring harness protector fastener from the engine front cover.
Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to DRIVE BELT TENSIONER REMOVAL .
Remove the left camshaft cover. Refer to CAMSHAFT COVER REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE .
Remove the engine oil cooler hose from engine oil cooler pipe.
Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water outlet. Refer to RADIATOR INLET HOSE REPLACEMENT (LAU/A28NER) .
Remove the water outlet. Refer to WATER OUTLET REMOVAL .
Remove the camshaft position sensors. Refer to the following:
- CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT - BANK 1 (RIGHT SIDE) EXHAUST
- CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT - BANK 1 (RIGHT SIDE) INTAKE
- CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT - BANK 2 (LEFT SIDE) INTAKE
- CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT - BANK 2 (LEFT SIDE) EXHAUST
Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves. Refer to the following:
- CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE SOLENOID REPLACEMENT - BANK 1 (RIGHT SIDE) EXHAUST
- CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE SOLENOID REPLACEMENT - BANK 1 (RIGHT SIDE) INTAKE
- CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE SOLENOID REPLACEMENT - BANK 2 (LEFT SIDE) INTAKE
- CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE SOLENOID REPLACEMENT - BANK 2 (LEFT SIDE) EXHAUST
Remove the lower engine wiring harness protector fastener from the engine front cover.
Remove the right upper generator fastener.
Remove the engine front cover. Refer to ENGINE FRONT COVER removal (LAU OR LBW).
