Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair

The ABCM is located under the instrument panel, to the left of the steering column. The ABCM and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) are located in the same carrier. The ABCM is outboard of the PCM, closest to the lefthand side kick panel.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove connector position assurance locking pin from 2-way ABCM connector, then disconnect connector, Fig. 61.
3. Disconnect 32-way ABCM connector, then turn ABCM retaining screw 1/4 turn.
4. Remove module by pulling downward being careful not to snag wiring.
5. Reverse procedure to install. The ABCM contains an Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EE PROM) that must be reprogrammed when a service replacement module is installed or a Code 82 will result.
