End Cover: Installation

CAUTION: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel lug nuts to loosen in service.
  1. Clean gasket surfaces. Mating surfaces must be clean and dry. Install end cover gasket. Turn the reverse cone so the slots align the cone to the end cover. Clean and lubricate fasteners with Saturn Transaxle Fluid. Wipe off excess fluid and install. Install end cover and install bolts hand tight. See Figure . Tighten end cover-to-case bolts in a crisscross pattern to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Install inner splash shield. Position wheel onto hub. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Repeat tightening procedure to ensure torque is correct. Install drain plug. See Figure . Lower vehicle and fill transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level. See LUBRICATION  .
