Removal & Installation: Generator: Removal

  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Remove accessory belt.
  3. Raise and support vehicle on a hoist.
  4. Remove right wheel
  5. Remove right wheel well splash shield.
  6. Disconnect the field wires from generator.
    7. NOTE: Failure to hold stud when loosening the lock nut may crack the plastic insulator and cause generator to fail.
  7. Disconnect fusible link wire using the Generator Output Stud Wrench (SA9401C) to hold the generator output (B+) stud from rotating.
  8. Remove lower and upper generator attachment bolts.
  9. Remove generator through the wheel well opening behind the strut.
