Console Assembly: Removal

  1. Disable the SIR system. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. Move the gearshift lever to the Neutral position.
  2. Pull up at rear edge of shifter bezel, disengaging retention clips. See Figure . Disconnect window switches, mirror switch and cigar lighter and remove shifter bezel. See Figure .
  3. Move front seats to forward-most position. Remove front floor console assembly to floor pan screws. Lift console from rear and disconnect power outlet electrical connector. See Figure .
  4. Move front seats to rearward-most position and put seat backs down. Remove console by pulling up at rear first, then twisting counter-clockwise to remove. Remove screws and pull rearward at clip locations to remove knee bolster. See Figure .
  5. Open instrument panel compartment and turn the door stops 1/4 turn, then remove the door stops. Push center pin portion of instrument panel compartment door pins toward center of instrument panel compartment and remove compartment assembly. See Figure .
  6. Pull rearward at clip locations to remove center trim panel. See Figure . Remove front screws holding the left and right console trim panels.
  7. Remove panel-to-HVAC module push pins, and panel-to-instrument panel retainer screws. Remove panels. See Figure .
