Additional Checks
- Check the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch operation. See PARK NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH under SENSORS & SWITCHES in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - 2.2L ION article.
- Check the transmission Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) operation. The TCC applying too soon can cause the engine to spark knock. See appropriate DIAGNOSIS article in TRANSMISSIONS.
