Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Locating Upper Radiator Mounts

  1. Verify that the upper radiator mounts are installed in the vehicle.

  3. Install the upper radiator air baffle.

  5. Tilt the condenser forward in the vehicle. Install the radiator assembly into the vehicle.

  7. Verify that the upper radiator mount pins align with the upper radiator mounts.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  9. Install the lower radiator mounts, brackets, and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the right engine splash shield to radiator mount push-in retainer.
  12. If equipped with a manual transaxle, install the left engine splash shield to radiator mount push-in retainer.

  14. If equipped with air conditioning, install the right and left radiator side baffles.

  16. Slide the condenser up to engage the upper mounting tabs into the radiator.

  18. Install the condenser bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  20. Install the air dam and push-in retainers.

  22. Align the cooling fan shroud retaining features to the radiator. Pull down on the cooling fan assembly to snap the fan shroud onto the radiator.

  24. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, install the lower transmission oil cooler line and seal the radiator.

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission oil cooler line to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  25. Lower the vehicle.

  27. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, install the upper transmission oil cooler line and seal to the radiator.

    Tighten:  Tighten the transmission oil cooler line to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  29. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
  30. Reposition the hose clamp to secure the hose using SA9111E  . See Special Tools .

  32. Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
  33. Reposition the hose clamp to secure the hose using SA9111E  . See Special Tools .
  34. Install the charge air cooler, if equipped. Refer to Radiator Replacement - Charge Air Cooler .
  35. Install the air cleaner duct. Refer to the appropriate procedure:
  36. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (2.0L (LSJ) Static Fill)  or Draining and Filling Cooling System (2.2L (L61), 2.4L (LE5) Static Fill)  or Draining and Filling Cooling System (GE 47716 Fill) .
  37. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, add fluid to the transmission as necessary. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking .
