Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Saturn Ion Red Line, 2007 Saturn Ion 3, and 2007 Saturn Ion 2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

    IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery installation.
  1. Install the battery.
  2. Install the battery strap and retainer.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the battery retainer bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the battery vent tube to the battery and grommet.

  8. Position the positive battery cable (1) to the battery.
  9. Tighten the positive battery cable bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
