Generator Replacement (LE5)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LE5) (Service and Repair)Drive Belt Replacement (LAT) (Service and Repair).




3. Disconnect the generator electrical connector (3).




4. Reposition the generator terminal protective boot (3).
5. Remove the generator terminal nut (2).
6. Remove the engine harness terminal (1) from the generator.




7. Remove the generator bolts.
8. Remove the generator from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the generator to the vehicle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the generator bolts and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




3. Install the engine harness terminal (1) to the generator.
4. Install the generator terminal nut (2) and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
5. Position the generator terminal protective boot (3).




6. Connect the generator electrical connector (3).
7. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (LE5) (Service and Repair)Drive Belt Replacement (LAT) (Service and Repair).
8. Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
