Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

3. REMOVE ECM
a. Disconnect the 4 ECM connectors.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and ECM.
c. Remove the 2 screws and ECM bracket.
d. Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket.
e. Remove the 2 screws and No. 3 ECM bracket.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL ECM
a. Install the No. 3 ECM bracket with the 2 screws.
b. Install the No. 2 ECM bracket with the 2 screws.
c. Install the ECM bracket with the 2 screws.
d. Install the ECM with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)

e. Connect the 4 ECM connectors.

2. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
