Inspection Procedure

  1. CHOOSE DIAGNOSIS METHOD 
    1. Choose the diagnosis method.
      DTC CHART

      Method Proceed to
      Using intelligent tester A
      Not using intelligent tester B

    B: Go to step   3 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. READ VALUE ON INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the intelligent tester main switch on.
    3. Select the item below in the "DATA LIST", and read the display on the intelligent tester.

      ECM (Cruise Control) 

      DATA LIST

      Item Measurement Item / Display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      CCS INDICATOR M Cruise Indicator signal (Main CPU) ON or OFF ON: "CRUISE" ON
      OFF: "CRUISE" OFF
      -

      OK: When the cruise control main switch is operated, the display changes as shown above. 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECM - BATTERY) 
    1. Disconnect the E5 connector from the ECM.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      WIRE HARNESS STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E5-18(P1)-Body ground Cruise main indicator light
      ON --> OFF
      (Cruise control main switch ON --> OFF)
      Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the C6 combination meter connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFCIATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C6-4 - Body ground Ignition switch OFF Below 1 V
      C6-4 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER-BATTERY)

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER - ECM AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      WIRE HARNESS STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C6-34 - E5-18 (PI) Always Below 1 Ω
      E5-18 (PI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C6-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
