Fuel Pump: Inspection: Inspection

  1. INSPECT FUEL WITH FILTER PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the resistance.

      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 0.2 to 3.0 Ω

        If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.

    2. Check the operation
      1. Apply battery voltage to both terminals. Check that the pump operates.
        NOTE:
        • These tests must be done quickly (in less than 10 seconds) to prevent the coil from burning out.
        • Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
        • Always do the switching at the battery side.

        If the motor does not operate, replace the fuel pump.
