Remove/Install 5th Gear Set - AR26.50-P-0005SR

TRANSMISSION 700.12 in MODEL 453

REMOVING Remove     
1 Drain transmission oil   AR26.00-P-0200SR 
2 Remove transmission   AR26.10-P-0020SR 
3 Remove bolts (1)    
4 Remove housing (2)    
5 Engage 5th gear using shift unit (3)    
6 Unscrew nut (4) using impact wrench/driver    
7 Remove washer (5) IMPORTANT Note installation position of washer (5).  
8 Remove locking pin (6)    
9 Remove shift fork (7) with sliding sleeve (8)    
10 Unfasten synchronizer body (9) SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 1
11 Remove synchronizer body (9)    
12 Remove synchronizer ring (15)    
13 Pull off 5th gear wheel (11) together with bushing (12) and spacer washer (13) IMPORTANT Note installation position of the spacer washer (13).  
14 Unfasten bolt (10) using impact wrench/driver IMPORTANT Do not fully remove the bolt (10).  
15 Release idler gear for 5th gear (14) using suitable puller    
16 Remove screw/bolt (10)    
17 Remove idler gear for 5th gear (14)    
INSTALLING Install     
18 Mount idler gear for 5th gear (14) IMPORTANT Check idler gear for 5th gear (14) is correctly seated.  
19 Pull off 5th gear wheel (11) together with spacer washer (13) and bushing (12) IMPORTANT Check fixed gear for 5th gear (11) is correctly seated.  
20 Screw in bolt (10) IMPORTANT Replace bolt (10).  
21 Install shift fork (7) with shift unit (3) IMPORTANT The shift unit (3) consists of a synchronizer body (9), sliding sleeve (8) and a synchronizer ring (15).  
22 Install locking pin (6) IMPORTANT Replace locking pin (6).  
23 Mount shim (5) IMPORTANT Replace shim (5).  
24 Screw on nut (4)    
25 Install transmission   AR26.10-P-0020SR 
26 Engage 5th gear on gearshift lever    
27 Press brake pedal in vehicle and tighten nut (4) IMPORTANT Helper required.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut of drive shaft		 *BA26.00-P-1007-01A 
28 Press brake pedal in vehicle and tighten bolt (10) IMPORTANT Helper required.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt of output shaft		 *BA26.00-P-1008-01A 
29 Position housing (2) and tighten bolts (1) IMPORTANT Replace seal.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, housing for 5th gear to transmission housing		 *BA26.40-P-1006-01G 
30 Fill with transmission oil   AR26.00-P-0200SR
