Test 4: Inlet Solenoid Valve Problem

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control unit harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ABS control unit harness connector terminals. See Figure . See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT RESISTANCE table. Resistance should be one ohm or less. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, go to step 4).
    CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

    DTC (1) Terminals No.
    31 32 & 35
    33 2 & 32
    39 18 & 32
    (1) Using ohmmeter, check resistance between specified terminals.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect hydraulic unit valve relay. Hydraulic unit valve relay (5-terminal) is located on hydraulic unit. Ensure ABS control unit harness connector is disconnected. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between appropriate ABS control unit harness connector terminals. See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE table. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 5).
    CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE

    DTC (1) Terminals No.
    31 35 & 20
    33 2 & 20
    39 18 & 20
    (1) Using voltmeter, check voltage between specified terminals.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove fuse No. 15 (10-amp) from relay/fuse box. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between appropriate ABS control unit harness connector terminals. See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE CIRCUIT VOLTAGE  table. If battery voltage is not present, replace ABS control unit. If battery voltage is present, go to step 6).
  4. Turn ignition off. Ensure hydraulic unit valve relay and ABS control unit harness connectors are connected. Disconnect hydraulic unit harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between appropriate hydraulic unit terminals. See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE RESISTANCE table. See Figure . Resistance should be one ohm or less. If resistance is as specified, inspect and repair circuit between hydraulic unit and ABS control unit. If resistance is not as specified, replace hydraulic unit.
    CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE RESISTANCE

    DTC Terminals No.
    31 4 & 11
    33 3 & 11
    39 1 & 11
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect hydraulic unit connector. Check resistance between ground and terminal No. 11 at hydraulic unit connector. See Figure . Also, check resistance between terminals No. 8 and 11 at hydraulic unit connector. If resistance readings are both infinite, inspect and repair circuit between hydraulic unit and ABS control unit. If one or both resistance readings are not infinite, replace hydraulic unit.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect hydraulic unit harness connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between appropriate hydraulic unit terminals. See CHECKING SOLENOID VALVE RESISTANCE  table. See Figure . Resistance should be one ohm or less. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 11 at hydraulic unit. Voltage should be zero volts. If resistance and voltage are as specified, inspect and repair circuit between hydraulic unit and ABS control unit. If resistance or voltage are not as specified, replace hydraulic unit.
