Manual Transmission Assembly: Removal
- Open front hood fully, and support with stay.
- Disconnect battery ground terminal.
- Remove air intake duct and cleaner case.
- Remove air cleaner case stay.
- Disconnect the following connectors.
- Front oxygen sensor connector
- Neutral position switch connector
- Back-up light switch connector
- Vehicle speed sensor
- Remove starter. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION .
- Remove operating cylinder from transmission.
- Remove pitching stopper.
- Set ST.NOTE: Also is available Part No. 927670000.
ST 41099AA020 ENGINE SUPPORT ASSY
- Remove bolt which holds right upper side of transmission to engine.
- Remove under cover.
- Remove rear oxygen sensor connector from bracket.
- Remove front and center exhaust pipes.
- Remove rear exhaust pipe and muffler.CAUTION: When removing exhaust pipes, be careful each exhaust pipe does not drop out.
- Remove heat shield cover.
- Remove hanger bracket from right side of transmission.
- Remove propeller shaft. See PROPELLER SHAFT .
- Remove gear shift rod and stay from transmission.
- Disconnect stay from transmission.
- Disconnect rod from transmission.
- Remove bolts which install stabilizer clamps onto crossmember.
- Remove front drive shafts from transmission.
- Remove transverse link from housing.
- Lower transverse link.
- Remove spring pins and separate front drive shafts from each side of the transmission.
CAUTION: Discard removing spring pin. Replace with a new one. - Remove nuts which hold lower side of transmission to engine.
- Place transmission jack under transmission.CAUTION: Always support transmission case with a transmission jack.
- Remove transmission rear crossmember from vehicle.
- Remove transmission.CAUTION: Move transmission jack toward rear until main shaft is withdrawn from clutch cover.
- Separate transmission assembly and rear cushion rubber.
