Fuel Tank: Removal
WARNING:
Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Set the vehicle on a lift.
- Release the fuel pressure. <Ref. to RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE , PROCEDURE, FUEL .>
- Drain fuel from fuel tank. <Ref. to DRAINING FUEL , PROCEDURE, FUEL .>
- Remove the rear seat.
- Disconnect the connector (A) of fuel tank cord connected to the rear harness.
- Push the grommet (B) which holds the fuel tank cord on the floor panel into under the body.
- Remove the rear crossmember. <Ref. to REMOVAL , Rear Crossmember .>
- Remove the canister. <Ref. to REMOVAL , Canister .>
- Disconnect the connector from the pressure control solenoid valve.
- Loosen the clamp, and disconnect the fuel filler hose (A) and evaporation hose (B) from fuel filler pipe.
- Move the clips, and disconnect the quick connector. <Ref. to REMOVAL , Fuel Delivery, Return And Evaporation Lines .>
- Disconnect the fuel hoses.
- Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack, remove the band mounting bolts, and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
WARNING:
- A helper is required to perform this work.
- Fuel may remain in the side which does not have drain plug of fuel tank. This will cause the left and right sides to be unbalanced. Be careful not to drop the fuel tank when removing.
