Converter Case: Installation

Check the appearance of each component and clean them.
Press-fit the new oil seal to the converter case using the ST.
ST 398437700 DRIFT

Install the front differential assembly to the case. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Differential Assembly. >
Install the right and left side retainers. < Ref. to ADJUSTMENT , Front Differential Assembly. >
Install new seal pipe to converter case.

Install the rubber seal to converter case.

Apply proper amount of liquid gasket to the entire matching surface of converter case.
Liquid gasket:

THREE BOND 1215 (Part No. 004403007) or equivalent

Install the converter case without damaging bushing and oil seal.
Tightening torque:

Oil charge pipe section

38 N.m (3.9 kgf-m, 28.0 ft-lb)

Excluding the oil charge pipe section

41 N.m (4.2 kgf-m, 30.2 ft-lb)

Insert the inhibitor switch and transmission harness connector to the stay.
Install the air breather hose. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Air Breather Hose. >
Install the ATF cooler pipe. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , ATF Cooler Pipe and Hose. >
Install the oil charge pipe with O-ring. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Oil Charge Pipe. >
Insert the input shaft while rotating it lightly by hand, and then check the amount of protrusion.
Normal protrusion A:

50 - 55 mm (1.97 - 2.17 in)

Install the transmission assembly to the vehicle. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Automatic Transmission Assembly. >
